safe cracking

I just contacted a company about exposing personal information on their website. They said they'd call back with an answer. hopefully they follow through promise. and hopefully they take down the information. how many other companies expose information through URLs this way? yikes!
should this be reported? how should it be handled? how serious is the issue? a company puts people at risk that you have given personally identifiable information should be taken out to the woodshed at least, pilloried at most.
